With this one, I decided to venture deeper into our Universe. With the arms of our galaxy being low on the horizon during the spring, distant galaxies are becoming prime targets, especially for those with telescopes of larger calibre. The Messier 101 Pinwheel Galaxy is situated near the handle of Big Dipper (Ursa Major constellation) in our night sky. Looking at the galaxy, we look far back in time. Its light has to travel unimaginable 21 million light-years to reach us. If we could instantaneously look back from the M 101 on Earth, there would be no sign of us humans yet. Even continents wouldn't look exactly as we recognize them now.

I was shooting this galaxy multiple nights from March till late April combining standard RGB images with narrowband images to highlight red nebulae within the galaxy's arms. As a super cool bonus, I added some more exposures to incorporate a supernova explosion in one of the galaxy's arms which we couldn't see till late May, see its light was still months away when I was imaging (you can learn more about it on my Instagram profile and don't forget to like all my photos, even the crappy ones, while you're there).

You'll get two full resolution images of the Pinwheel galaxy (one for phone and one for smartwatch). Warning: This image captures violent death of a star! Please do not redistribute without consent, it took me a lot of time watching youtube videos while the camera was rolling. No but seriously, don't steal my work please.
